Get info about Brookhaven College HVAC training, registering for elective courses, and taking free practice tests online. Given the breadth of engineering specializations, you may find your niche within the engineering field. Technical training is only the first step towards a rewarding career. If you complete the HVAC training program, for example, there are a variety of concentrations that may appeal to you such as heating science, ventilation systems, or refrigeration methods. Further, due to advances in building technology, there is a growing shortage of graduates with HVAC training, and of skilled engineering technicians in general. In modern buildings the design, installation, and control systems of various functions are integrated into one or more HVAC systems. Heaters exist for various types of fuel, including solid fuels, liquids, and gases. Another type of heat source is electricity, used in baseboard heaters. Alternatively, warm air may be distributed through duct work systems using metal or fiberglass ducts. Many systems use the same ducts to distribute air cooled by an evaporator coil for air conditioning. Because an air conditioner moves heat between the indoor coil and the outdoor coil, both must be kept clean. This means that you must regularly clean the condenser coil, in addition to replacing the air filter at the evaporator coil.
HVAC technicians may receive training from technical schools or community colleges that offer HVAC training in heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration. These programs generally last from 6 months to 2 years, and lead to a certificate or an associate’s degree. The median annual wage for heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration HVAC engineering technicians was $45,110 as of May 2015. Further, employment of HVAC program graduates is projected to grow 14 percent over the next decade, much faster than average.

Architectural Engineering
Architects spend much of their time in offices, where they develop plans, meet with clients, and consult with engineers and other architects. They also visit construction sites to prepare initial drawings and review the progress of projects to ensure that clients? objectives are met. About 1 in 5 architects were self-employed as of 2015, and the average salary for architects was $76,100 annually. There are typically three main steps to becoming a licensed architect: completing a professional degree in architecture, gaining relevant experience through a paid internship, and passing the Architect Registration Examination. A typical bachelor's degree program includes courses in architectural history, building design using computer-aided design and drafting software (CADD), structural engineering, construction methods, and professional practices. The design studio is a central component of most architectural programs, where students apply the skills and concepts learned in the classroom to create drawings and three-dimensional models of their work.

Engineering Job Listings
The Fundamentals of Engineering exam should be taken immediately after earning a bachelors degree from an ABET-accredited program. Engineers who pass this exam are called engineers in training (EIT), or engineer interns. After meeting work experience requirements, engineer interns can attempt a second certifying exam, called the Principles and Practice of Engineering Exam. Thereafter, acquisition of a professional engineering license enables management of junior engineers, the ability to sign off on engineering projects, and provide services directly to the public. Wages vary by employer and location. Aside from salary, most engineering jobs include excellent benefits, as well as retirement plans.Job listings below are updated hourly: | Starting Salary (up to) | 10 Year Salary (up to) |
